Zamuxolo’s Bio:

Zamuxolo Madungandaba was born and bred in Pretoria. She is a vibrant, creative and highly inquisitive Attorney at Law with a strong commercial background.

She was awarded a Nedbank Foundation Bursary and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of the Witwatersrand. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics, Insurance and Risk Management, Marketing and Law. She pursued a post-graduate Bachelor of Laws after completion of her Bachelor of Commerce degree.

She has sound experience in the retail environment, having worked in the industry. Her intimate knowledge of the retail environment bolsters her ability to assist retail clients. Her industry knowledge combined with her commercial and regulatory background allows her to understand issues that face retailers and act with a deeper understanding of the retail contextual issues, such as human resources.

She has been strongly exposed to commercial work and was employed at one of the most exclusive banks in South Africa, being Investec Bank. There she was a Client Support Banker where her duties included handling client disputes, complaints, managing clients’ accounts and advising clients on a range of technical banking issues. As a Client Support Banker, she provided service across a range of Investec’s financial products, including Transactional Banking, Personal Finance, Forex, Cash Investments and Wealth.

While working at a bank was living the dream, she decided that she was going to pursue her legal career more intently as she was passionate about law and wanted to make an impact through law.

She continued learning and took on a role as an Estate Agent at a boutique agency. Her duties included sourcing leads, digital and traditional of marketing properties for sales, organising viewings and facilitating sales and sale agreement terms.  As a result, she has had continuous exposure to stakeholders in the property transfer value chain including, but not limited to valuators, banks, mortgage originators, municipalities and Conveyancers.

She completed her articles of clerkship at one of the most prestigious firms in South Africa, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr where she had practical exposure to a wide array of legal matters and a wide range of corporate clients.

She has experience in advising on commercial, labour, administrative, constitutional, property and competition issues and has had exposure to a wide range of multinational clients. She has an interest and passion in cross-border transactions and laws.

She has a passion for commerce and business, as well as helping people and providing exceptional work and service. She is particularly interested in Property Law, Competition, Commercial disputes as well as Sports, Media and Entertainment. She also has a passion for Social justice and Human rights law. Being a lover of fashion, she is also intrigued by intellectual property law and technology law.

Awards and Activities
  • She went to high school at Crawford College Pretoria, where she was a two-time Honours award recipient and also appointed as a member of the highest body of students in the college in Matric, being the Judiciary.
  • At University, she was appointed Chairperson of Sunnyside Hall of Residence in her first year and was also a member of the All Residence Council, which was the council that sat under the Student Representatives Council. She held the position of cultural officer.
  • After she completed her studies in Commerce and Law, she obtained a Higher Certificate in Fashion at LISOF, an acclaimed fashion, retail and design institute in South Africa.
